How to Make a Turmeric Golden Paste?
For making a turmeric golden paste, you will need a few ingredients and a little time for cooking.

- Half a Cup of turmeric powder
- 5 tbsps of coconut oil
- 250 ml of water
- 2-3 tsp of grounded black pepper
Note: You can also use olive or linseed oil instead of coconut oil.

- Coconut Oil:

Instructions for Making a Turmeric Golden Paste:
- First Step; Mixing Turmeric with Water:
Take a pan and add water and turmeric to it. And bring it to a boil. In order to achieve a thick paste, reduce the temperature and simmer it. The average time for getting a thick paste is 7-10 minutes but it can vary. When you observe the mixture of water and turmeric has become thick enough, then proceed to the next step. Also, you will need to add more water to achieve a good consistency of paste.
- Second Step; Addition of Black Pepper and Oil:
It is best to add freshly ground black pepper. When the mixture of water and turmeric has become thick, remove it from the flame and set it aside. Add black pepper along with coconut oil when the mixture is still warm to the touch but not burning. The mixture will get warm in approximately 10 minutes after removing it from the flame.
If you want crunchy bits of pepper in the paste, then do not finely grind it. However, if you don’t like that crunchy, then grind black pepper more finely.
Note: According to experts, it is best to use a sufficient quantity of pepper in the paste. People who use a good amount of pepper have achieved greater success. However, if you are allergic to it or can’t tolerate it, do not add it to the paste. Turmeric will still be absorbed by adding oil but the bioavailability will not be greater.
- Third Step; Stir and Cool
After adding black pepper and oil to the turmeric mixture, stir it well. And after that cool it.
What are the Things to Consider When Preparing a Turmeric Golden Paste?
Below are important things that should be considered seriously when preparing a turmeric golden paste:
- You can’t add any sweetener including honey in the paste. The reason behind avoiding sugar is that it can stimulate inflammation.
- Always use fresh crushed black peppers. Using the pre-made black pepper is not recommended. Because the active ingredient “Piperine” can undergo oxidation and degradation when exposed to air and light.
- Try a quarter (¼) of a teaspoon, 2 times a day with water or food. And gradually increase the frequency (3-4 times a day) for the first 5 days.
- If you suffer from GIT (GIT stands for Gastrointestinal) problems including upset stomach or diarrhea by consuming turmeric golden paste, simply reduce the dose. And keep the dose low for a longer period. By regularly consuming a small amount of paste, your body will adjust and your gut microorganisms will soon benefit.
How Long Can You Store a Turmeric Golden Paste?
You can store a turmeric golden paste for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator. It is not recommended to store it at room temperature. If you think the turmeric golden paste that you made can last more than 2 weeks, simply freeze it. The trend of using silicone mixtures is increasing vastly. Take a silicone mold, set the mixture in it, and put it in the refrigerator.
